Happy PRIDE!
It's finally here!  This week is the University of Texas at Austin's PRIDE Week!  Student Government, Queer Students Alliance, and Texas Parents are proud to present this week of events to the UT Austin community!  There's a ton of fun things going on this week so be sure to check the PRIDE Week tab above or our PRIDE Week Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/events/121794458012806/) for a complete list of events.  

Kick off at Gregory Plaza @ 12-2p. We'll have many organizations participating, Queer Chorus will perform, tie dye station and SWAG! We've got the fabulous t-shirts, flyers with all this week's events, and so much more swag!

We cannot wait to get the celebration started!  See y'all there!!

Officer Application for 2013-2014

Hello Potential Leaders!

One week after PRIDE week, QSA will be holding its officer elections! Interested in a leadership role on campus? Want to support the LGBTQIA community? Are you an Ally? Become an officer of QSA! 
Open positions: Vice Director, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Coordinator, Campus Coordinator, and Austin Liaison. These positions are open to all students and for anyone who is passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA community! First, fill out the officer application, which can be found below. Applications must be emailed to texasqsa@gmail.com by Tuesday April 23 @ 11:59. Elections will be held during the general meeting! 
Also, PRIDE week is a great opportunity to network, talk to current officers, and see if there is something you are super interested in pursuing! If you have any questions/concerns, please let us know via email at texasqsa@gmail.com.

QSA Meeting: Social Justices on Campus

Hey QSA! Hope y'all had a great Easter weekend! It's time for QSA's 6th general meeting! Join us this Wednesday, April 3 @ 5p in JGB 2.218. We'll be discussing Social Justices on UT Campus. Also, we're very happy to announce our guest speaker this week is Martha Compton. Martha works in the Office of the Dean of Students and she will discuss the University's rules and polices related to student-on-student issues of discrimination, harassment, and other potentially bias-motivated incidents. We'll also discuss services, resources, and the options available to students under the University's disciplinary process as well as remedies available through that process. QSA's 5th Meeting with special guest Shane Whalley!

Hey QSA!!

Hope y'all had an amazing, fun, relaxing and exciting spring break! Well, it's time to jump back into school and it's also QSA's 5th general meeting! 

Come by JGB 2.218 this Wed, Mar 20 @ 5p for our Transgender Discussion w/ guest speaker Shane Whalley. We'll be talking about what it means to be transgender, trans issues, etc. If you have any questions/comments about the trans community, please bring them! Shane is an amazing speaker and you do NOT want to miss this! If you enjoyed the Ally discussion, then you'll love this!

Also, now that we've got the events nailed out, we'll also be talking about PRIDE week more in detail. We might even throw in a sneak peak at t-shirt/flyer designs etc. Who knows...you will if you come to the meeting!

Meeting Wednesday... JEOPARDY!!

Helloo Queer Trivia Champs (and those with the spark to also be awesome)!!

Guess what??? It's Jeopardy with QSA this Wednesday! Win thousands with your friends and buy all those shiny things that have caught your attention recently - or blow it all on all the South by Southwest events you're going to attend! 

Hey, while we may not be able to hand out cold hard cash, we do have a very special prize for the winners! Hilarity included. Come test your trivia in topics ranging from Queer topics in history through modern pop culture!

We loved last meeting's potluck dishes so much that we're going to open the food options to y'all this week! In other words, whatever snacks you bring, we'll eat! No need for entree meals so anything is welcome!

GBSA and QSA Host: Queer Concert

Who's in for some music?!

Join GBSA and UT's Queer Student Alliance downtown next Thursday (February 28th) for a fun mixer and some amazing performances by UT's Queer Chorus, Kalandra Bankhead and other LGBTQA artists. The event will be at 10 p.m. and at Rusty's on 7th street and will be a great way to hang out and meet people.

There will also be a mixer before the concert starting at 9 p.m. The mixer will be an opportunity for LGBTQA students to socialize with and find mentors at our current and future sponsors. It will be a causal event where you can chat and meet professionals in a different setting.

This event requires an RSVP, especially if you are under 21 years of age.

2nd General Meeting - Ally Appreciation and Training!

Hey QSA!!

It's time for our second general meeting! Come join us this Wednesday for cookies, fun updates, and ALLY TRAINING!

This is a special meeting - we will be talking about what it means to be an "ally", no matter if you are gay, straight, bisexual, etc. Not only is it important to be supportive of the LGBT community, but it's also important to be supportive within the community! Since this is an Ally Appreciation meeting, no matter what your identity is, we want you to bring a friend who has been super supportive!

So don't miss out on the fun at JGB 2.218 at 5p!

Welcome Back!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Spring 2013 semester!  We hope y’all had a marvelous Winter Break!!  QSA has a lot of fun stuff in store (including Pride Week!) so it’s time to get excited!  Stay tuned for more details.
